Story Book

I really enjoyed creating a children's book using storyjumper.com At first it was a little difficult to use the program, but it has a tutorial video that is helpful. For my book I did it on Even Steven and Odd Todd and it could be used as part of a lesson when teaching even and odd numbers. I would use this for my second-grade class for them to create their own book of their memories has a second grader. I would give my students time about once a week to add a page to their book. There are many ways students and teachers could integrate this to any lesson or to teach something. The ISTE for students that I would use would be 1.4C innovative designer because they would be creating their own book by using technology. They will also be using 1.2 digital citizen because they need to be responsible of things that they will be adding into their book story. The new skills that the student will be learning creating their storybook will be creativity and citizenship. Since each student will be working on their own story book, they need to be creative in what they will be writing and how they will be setting it up. For instance, how will they set up the book and what pictures will they add if any. The next skill they will use is them being responsible citizens if they look for any pictures from online, they need to be careful what they look at. The disadvantage about this activity is getting the students to get familiar in creating the storybook. They might be some students having difficulties how to use the program or they may be getting into something else while they are supposed to be working on their book. The advantage of using a digital storybook is that they will be learning something new that they may be able to use later in their school years.
