Introduction:
There are many different animals in the world. In which they each have different habitats and their adaptations.

Task:
The students will learn about different habitats and adaptation from different animals. They will need to gather information from our lesson and the videos to create their mind map.

Process:
-
Teacher will begin lesson by asking the class if they know what adaptation and/or habitat mean?
-
After several answers from students the teacher will present her presentation and the students will need to take notes for their own reference.
-
For further information two videos will be presented to the students from Youtube.com about the different classification of animal habitats and the adaptation in animals.
-
As a class we will have a small discussion about what we have learned, and teacher will answer any questions students may have.
-
The teacher will demonstrate how to do a mind map. They will create a mind map using Mindmeister.
-
Students will need to pick an animal of their choice, then they need to find out their habitat and the adaptations in their animal.
-
Once they have completed their own mind maps, they will be submitting it to the teacher. Will she review and grade since they will need it for other assignment.
Evaluation:
-
Understand what habitat and adaptation means.
-
Provide correct information about the animal’s habitat and adaptation.

Conclusion:
Students will have the understanding in what habitat and adaptation is. They will be able to present adequate information about their animal’s habitat and their adaptations in their mind mapping to use in another assignment.
Teacher’s Page:
(9) Organisms and environments. The student knows and can describe patterns, cycles, systems, and relationships within the environments. The student is expected to: (A) observe and describe the physical characteristics of environments and how they support populations and communities of plants and animals within an ecosystem
(10) Organisms and environments. The student knows that organisms undergo similar life process and have structures that help them survive within environments. The student is expected to: (A) explore how structures and functions of plants and animals allow them to survive in a particular environment

ISTE Standards for Teachers:
2.5 Designer
a. Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
b. design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital technology tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
c. Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.
ISTE Standards for Students:
-
Empowered learner
c. Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
1.4 Innovative Designer
a. Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artifacts, or solving authentic problems.
